All Dressed Up

We went to a wedding earlier this month and were all three in a couple of pictures together. That never happens! Grandmaman, we thought you would like to see them.
The photo booth at the reception was a lot of fun. They had great props to wear for the photos.

Recent Lunches

Boogs is growing up and is not as into story themed lunches as he used to be. We are now reading more chapter books together and he is fine with "boring looking" lunches as long as he does not have to buy a school lunch. I don't post many pictures of his "boring looking" lunches. Here are a few recent lunches.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?  by Dial Books
This book is a collection of 14 artists who answered the old question, "Why did the chicken cross the road?"  Dial Books had Jon Agee, Tedd Arnold, Harry Bliss, David Catrow, Marla Frazee, Mary Grandpre, Lynn Munsinger, Jerry Pinkney, Vladimir Radunsky, Chris Raschka, Judy Schachner, David Shannon, Chris Sheban, and Mo Willems illustrate their own two-page spread with their answer to the question. Boogs and I really enjoyed looking through this book. We discussed the other books these artists have illustrated and what we noticed about their particular style of illustrating.

Breakfast for Lunch in the Laptop Lunchbox: Egg-A-Matic boiled egg chick (I bought that adorable egg mold from Bento USA) walking across a bacon road, Babybel cheese sun, pear clouds, and sausage in pancake chicken coop.

Regular lunches:

In the ELB lunchbox: Ham, almonds, Babybel cheese, Zbar, salad, dressing, blueberries, and kiwi.

In the Laptop Lunchbox: Zbar, applesauce, Pringles, blueberries, bologna, broccoli, tomatoes, and spinach.

Be sure to check out the wonderful sites I link to on my sidebar! If you want to see more book inspired lunches, click on the "lunches" label at the end of this post or go to My Story Themed Lunches board on Pinterest. I would love for you to leave a comment to let me know you stopped by.

Nonnie & Poppa's Visit

My parents were kind enough to come stay at our house to watch Boogs for five days while my husband and I went out of town. I did not realize how much we do in a week until I had to write notes about everything going on with Boogs during those 5 days. Boogs had after school choir practice, Tang Soo Do twice, swim team practice, and he sang the national anthem at the Texas Stars hockey game with about ten kids from his school. I was so sad to miss that performance.

Before the game, Boogs got to dress up in combat gear just to see what it was like.
This is a picture from the jumbo screen while Boogs was singing. Unfortunately, the kids were in a tucked away spot where my parents could not get a good picture of him singing. The sound did not work on the video they took.
 Boogs enjoyed the game.
He and a school friend sat next to each other and shared a blanket.
I love how my mom plays with Boogs. She had Boogs teach her how to ride a scooter.
They zoomed up and down the block for a while.
Boogs told me he was very happy to have us home but was sad at the same time that Nonnie & Poppa had to go home.

Day With Daddy

Boogs and Daddy spent the entire day last Sunday hanging out. They started the day with a little bit of target practice in the backyard with a bb gun. They set up a zombie target, a cardboard box with a paper target on it, a tin can, and a half filled water bottle. I tried a few shots and realized that they were both better shooters than me.
A little later in the morning,  they went fishing with their new fishing gear. They spent 5 hours fishing.
Daddy saw a slow moving fish in the water that was almost turned on its side. He reached into the water and pulled out this:
A large mouth bass "choking" on a small sunfish. They said it was the weirdest thing to see.
They pulled the little fish out and then put both fish back in the water. The fish swam off in opposite directions.
Boogs biggest catch of the day was a boom box. It broke his line. That is so gross looking.
As the hours went by, Boogs had to make himself more comfortable.
When they finally returned home, we made a fire on the back porch. Dinner that night was roasted hot dogs with roasted marshmallows for dessert.

Day At The Park

A couple of weeks ago, I took Boogs and his friend to the park to enjoy our beautiful weather. Here are a few pics.

(Grandmaman, sorry it has been so long since you've seen new pics of Boogs.)

We went to one of our favorite parks. There is so much to do there. The kids spent quite a bit of time on the playscape before we headed over to the bike hills course. They ran up and down the hills. Then we hopped the dry creek bed and went back to the "secret" playscape.

We found a My Little Pony figure and used it to play hide-&-seek. We probably spent and hour hiding that little toy. Some hiding places were very tricky to find.

Later, we brought out the soccer ball and big badminton set. We also spent some time watching the clouds and trying to figure out what shapes we saw. When we got home, the kids drew a property line in chalk across the driveway and dared each other to cross into enemy territory. It was such a fun day watching them play.
